Abena has 20 years of professional experience in fundraising, strategic partnerships and event management. She worked at Human Rights Watch as Associate Director, Development and Outreach.

She organised the annual fundraising gala raising CHF 2 million, managed major donor relations, put into place donor acquisition and stewardship plans. Abena contributed to the creation of the Dr. Mukwege Foundation in Geneva securing institutional funds and outreach actions.

Abena is co-founder of the Fundraising Bootcamp and Comm’ To Fund training workshops.  She lectures at the Haute Ecole de Gestion for the CAS Fundraising.

Sylvia has accumulated 19 years of diverse post-graduate work experience of which, 12 years in the PR & Communications field. She obtained a Masters in Political Science & a Masters in Science Communications with a focus on Technology-Enhanced Communications for Cultural Heritage. She has been collaborating with a.Community since 2021 and has a very keen interest in the cultural field.

In 2010, Sylvia worked for the international PR and Communications agency Burson-Marsteller, where she was a PR & Communications Consultant for five years. Then she became PR & Communications Manager at Palexpo. Sylvia subsequently returned to the NGO arena in 2021, where she consulted as a PR & Communications Specialist for 2nd Chance, an NGO working in the field of surgical training in Africa. Later she temporarily worked as an Operational Communications Associate for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. From 2022 to 2023, she was Head of Communications, Fundraising & Advocacy for an association promoting representation and fighting against racial discrimination.

Sonia Bouhali

Junior Fundraising and Communications Officer

Sonia is a young professional who recently graduated from the Master in Innovation, Human Development and Sustainability, a partnership between UNIGE and Geneva-Tsinghua Initiative.

Through her involvement with different actors: International Organisations (WHO, UN SDG lab, UNICEF France), Public Entities (Permanent Mission), NGOs and associations (MSF, HackaHealth), the young woman brings skills in project management and fundraising. Sonia is looking to further specialise in sustainability, where she wants to promote innovation for the common good within non-profit organisations.

Initially an intern with a.Community in fundraising, Sonia continues her involvement as a Junior Fundraiser and Communications Officer.

She has notably implemented projects and programs related to the integration of least developed countries and African countries into the multilateral trading system, and mobilized funds for programs related to economic governance and transparency in the extractive sector in West African countries. Mathilde has been a face-to-face fundraising professional for 10 years and has worked as a Project Manager in communication, logistics and donor development for more than 30 national and international environmental, public health and humanitarian organisations during four years.  Mathilde knows how to manage and guarantee a high quality donor service for more than 4,000 donors at a time.

With a decade of experience in the international development sector in Africa, Asia and Europe, Molly has helped social impact organisations raise funds, develop partnerships and deliver large-scale projects. She started as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso and has since worked with a range of organisations including Save the Children, Catholic Relief Services, Open Information Partnership (Central and Eastern Europe), Frontier Markets (India) and Foundation First (Ghana). Molly helps organisations develop project ideas that are fundable, feasible and true to the organisation’s mission.

She draws on technical skills gained from years of experience writing bids for large philanthropic and government donors.
